How are Link Authority scores spread across the web?
The median of the 134,979,706 domains in MrKeyword's web graph (August–October 2026) has a Link Authority of 4, and the top 1% score 25 or more. What a good domain authority score is sets out the full distribution: score bands, percentiles, linking domains by score and the split by domain ending.
What is Link Authority and how is it calculated?
Link Authority is MrKeyword's 0–100 score for how strongly the rest of the web links to a domain. It is calculated one of two ways. Where MrKeyword has seen links to a domain from at least 10 different domains, the score is MrKeyword's own PageRank over its link graph (the links it has seen plus its web graph), log-scaled against the strongest domain. Otherwise it places the domain's PageRank position in MrKeyword's web graph (August–October 2026) on a log curve, so the strongest domain scores 100.
- Web-graph score = 100 × (1 − ln(rank) ÷ ln(domains in the graph)), rounded, where rank is the domain's PageRank position among the 134,979,706 domains of the current release.
- Own score = 100 × ln(N × PR) ÷ ln(N × PRmax), rounded and floored at 0, where PR is the domain's PageRank (damping 0.85) over followed cross-domain links, N is the number of domains in the graph and PRmax is the strongest domain's PageRank. Links from suspected link farms count at a tenth of their weight.
Both curves are logarithmic, so moving from 80 to 90 takes far more new linking domains than moving from 20 to 30. A score describes links, not traffic or quality, and is most useful for comparing sites in the same market.

Where does this data come from?
Every profile reads MrKeyword's web graph (August–October 2026), MrKeyword's own domain-level link graph built from public web crawl data and covering 134,979,706 domains, plus MrKeyword's own PageRank where it has seen enough links to a site. Profiles are refreshed when MrKeyword imports a new release. Linking-domain counts are what MrKeyword has measured, not a claim about every link on the web, and links seen only in a customer's workspace are never published. Link Authority is labelled Derived: it is calculated from measured link data with the formulas above.
Why is a website missing from this list?
The list is hand-picked from well-known public websites, and a profile is published only when the site has a score and at least 500 linking domains in MrKeyword's data.
