FAQ

Questions, answered properly.

Where the data comes from, how far you can trust it, what the plans include, and what happens to your information. If yours is not here, ask us.

Where the data comes from

Where do the numbers in MrKeyword come from?

Four places, and every metric names which one: your own Google Search Console property, your own Bing Webmaster Tools property, Google Ads Keyword Planner (fetched live when you search), and MrKeyword's own crawler. There is no resold third-party SEO index behind any figure.

Do you scrape Google or Bing search results?

No. Rank tracking reads the average positions Google and Bing report for your verified property. MrKeyword does not scrape search result pages and does not pay a rank-checking provider.

Why does a number sometimes say “Not available”?

Because nothing measured it. A keyword with no verified demand signal, a day with no impressions, or a domain with no discovered links all show “Not available” rather than a zero or an invented figure.

What do the labels Measured, Derived, Estimated and Predicted mean?

Measured means observed directly, such as clicks from Search Console. Derived means calculated deterministically from measured data. Estimated means a modelled estimate. Predicted means a model prediction. Every metric also carries a confidence level and an “as of” date.

Are search volumes exact?

No, and MrKeyword does not claim they are. Monthly search demand comes from Google Keyword Planner, which publishes ranges and rounded figures. Where only a range is available, the range is what you see.

Accuracy

How accurate are the positions?

They are exactly as accurate as the source: they are the impression-weighted average position your search engine reported for the period you selected. That makes them reliable for trends and reporting, and different from what you would see refreshing a search page yourself.

Why is today's data missing?

Google finalises each day's Search Console data after roughly three days. The rank tracking header always shows the date your data actually runs through.

Why does a keyword show no position on some days?

Because there were no impressions that day, so no position was measured. MrKeyword leaves a gap in the chart instead of drawing a zero.

How far back does history go?

Search Console keeps roughly 16 months. MrKeyword stores its own daily copy from the moment you connect a property, so your history keeps growing past that window. The first sync backfills up to 16 months in chunks, newest first.

Is keyword difficulty a real measurement?

No, and the product says so wherever the score appears. It is a prediction from MrKeyword's crawl authority, content depth, relevance and link evidence, not a live search-result measurement. Where there is not enough evidence, it declines to give a number.

Trial and billing

What does the free plan cost?

Nothing, and it does not expire. Every new workspace starts on Free: 1 website, 25 tracked keywords, 100 audit pages and 10 keyword lookups a month, with no credit card. The pricing page compares it with the paid plans.

What happens if I stay on the free plan?

You keep it. Free does not expire and needs no card; its allowances are simply smaller.

What do the plans cost?

Basic is $1 a month, Pro AI is $5 a month. The pricing page compares every limit side by side.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Yes, from Settings, at any time. There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee.

What is a keyword lookup and what is an audit page?

A lookup is one live keyword research report for one keyword in one market, fetched from Google Keyword Planner when you search; repeating a search uses another lookup, and failed ones are refunded. An audit page is one page fetched by the crawler in a calendar month; pages reserved for a cancelled crawl are returned to your allowance.

Team and workspaces

How do team seats work?

A seat is one person with their own sign-in. Basic includes 1, Pro AI includes 3. The pricing page compares every limit.

What can each role do?

There are four roles: owner, admin, member and viewer. Owners and admins manage the workspace, its connections and schedules. Members can do the work. Viewers can read everything but change nothing.

Can I manage client websites separately?

Yes. Each client is its own website inside the workspace, with its own data and its own reports. How many websites a plan covers is on the pricing page.

Can two workspaces see each other's data?

No. Every query is scoped to the workspace on your session. A site or crawl belonging to another workspace returns a 404 — the same answer as one that does not exist.

Privacy and access

What access does MrKeyword ask for?

Read scopes. Search Console is connected with webmasters.readonly, Bing with Webmaster.read, and Google Analytics, if you connect it, with analytics.readonly. MrKeyword can read performance data; it cannot change a property or your site.

How are my connection tokens stored?

Provider refresh tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM under a server key, with a fresh random initialisation vector for each record. Details are on the security page.

Can I disconnect or delete my data?

Yes. You can disconnect a provider or remove a website from Settings, and you can close the account entirely. See the privacy notice for what is kept and for how long.

Does MrKeyword sell or share my search data?

No. Your Search Console and Bing data is used to run the product for your workspace.

AI and your AI assistant

What does MrKeyword use AI for?

Two things. Inside the product, AI explains an issue the crawler's 60 deterministic checks already found, and drafts the fix: title and meta options, structured data, and a prompt you can hand to a developer's coding assistant. Outside it, MrKeyword runs an MCP server, so Claude, Cursor or any MCP client can read your workspace and answer questions about your own data. The AI SEO page goes through both.

Does AI produce any of the numbers?

No, and this is the line the product does not cross. Positions come from Google Search Console and Bing, search demand is fetched live from Google Keyword Planner, technical findings come from MrKeyword's own crawler. The model reads those figures and explains them; it never generates, adjusts or forecasts one.

Can the AI predict my rankings?

No. There is no ranking forecast in MrKeyword and there is not going to be one dressed up as a measurement.

Can I connect MrKeyword to Claude or Cursor?

Yes. Create a token in Settings → Connections → API & MCP Tokens and give it to any MCP client. The token reads one workspace, every tool is a read, and you can revoke it in one click. The developer reference has the exact command for each client and the full tool list.

Can my assistant change something by mistake?

It cannot. Every tool the MCP server answers today is a read — there is no tool that edits your site, your workspace, your billing or your Google and Bing connections. Tools that would change something are still in development and will be opt-in.

What gets sent to the AI provider?

Only for the AI page audit and AI content briefs: the page's content and structure, the rule-based audit already computed for it, and that page's Search Console figures and queries. Page content is passed as evidence that the model is explicitly told never to treat as an instruction. Rank tracking, keyword research and the crawl itself involve no AI provider at all. More detail is on the AI SEO page.

Using the product

Do I need Search Console to use MrKeyword?

For rank tracking and reports, yes — those read your connected property. The site audit, keyword research and the domain authority checker work without it.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Rank tracking keywords export to CSV, keyword research exports every tab to CSV with the source and fetch date carried through, and report runs export to CSV or print to PDF.

Something looks wrong. What should I do?

Send us the details — the website, the keyword or page, and the date range. That is normally enough to trace a number back to the row it came from.
