SEO ROI Calculator: Estimate Profit and Break-Even Costs
Build a monthly scenario with your own inputs. Free, no sign-up; calculations run in your browser. No figures are prefilled or fetched.
Your monthly assumptions
Use USD throughout and one consistent month. Enter 0 for zero; all five fields are required. Percentages must be between 0 and 100.
Monthly scenario estimates based on your inputs
These are scenarios, not measured results or guaranteed returns. Fractional conversions represent an average.

Scenario estimate based on user inputs.Formula: SEO cost ÷ (conversion rate ÷ 100 × conversion value × gross margin ÷ 100); round up to whole visitsHow to calculate SEO ROI
Multiply incremental monthly organic visits by your conversion rate, then by conversion value to estimate revenue. Apply gross margin, subtract monthly SEO cost, and divide that difference by monthly SEO cost for ROI. A 100% ROI means the estimated gross profit is twice the SEO cost.
With zero SEO cost, ROI is undefined. If conversion rate, conversion value or margin is zero, positive spending cannot break even: break-even visits are unattainable. With zero cost and a positive contribution per visit, break-even visits are zero.
Revenue versus profit
Revenue is sales before delivery costs. Gross profit subtracts those direct costs; this calculator then subtracts SEO spending. It does not calculate full accounting net profit, tax or other overhead. Avoid counting SEO costs in both margin and the cost field.
Incremental versus total traffic
Use visits above the traffic you would have expected without the SEO work. Assigning all existing organic traffic to a new campaign overstates its return. Compare equivalent periods and account for seasonality, brand demand and other marketing.
Forecasting limitations
This is a single-month scenario, not a search-demand or ranking forecast. SEO can take months, and rankings, attribution, conversion rates and customer value can change. Compare conservative and optimistic inputs; do not treat one month's ROI as cumulative campaign ROI or a payback timeline.
