Rank tracking

A rank tracker you can defend in a client meeting.

This rank tracker reads the average position Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools report for your verified property, stores a daily copy, and shows the trend by device and country. It is a keyword rank checker built on measurement rather than a SERP tracker that scrapes results — nothing is scraped, and no third-party rank provider is involved.

Movement

See what moved before anyone asks.

The biggest movers list puts the week's gains and losses side by side, with the position each keyword came from and landed on. In the sample, “emergency plumber near me” went from 18 to 9 and “boiler service near me” slipped from 8 to 14.

  • Up and down movement over 7, 28 or 90 days
  • Change counts only keywords present in both periods
  • Alerts when a keyword crosses a threshold you set
  • Works as a keyword rank checker for any query you already appear for

Distribution

Know how much of the list is on page one.

Every tracked keyword is bucketed into top 3, 4–10, 11–20, 21–50 and 51+, with a page-one gauge beside it. The sample site has 109 of 248 keywords inside the top ten — 35% of them on page one.

  • Top 3, 4–10, 11–20, 21–50 and 51+ bands
  • A page-one share you can put straight in a report
  • Closest wins: the keywords sitting just outside

Queries

Start from the queries you already appear for.

Search Console knows every query your site has been shown for. MrKeyword lists them with clicks, impressions and average position, so tracking the right keywords takes one click rather than a guess.

  • Filters for page one, almost there and seen but not clicked
  • Add any query to tracking without retyping it
  • Position pills coloured by band, so scanning is instant

The right page

Know when Google picked the wrong page.

Set the page a keyword is supposed to rank with and MrKeyword watches for the day a different URL shows up instead. A Wrong page badge appears in the ranking-URL cell with both paths spelled out, and a filter collects every keyword in that state — which is usually two of your own pages competing for the same query. Turn on the weekly digest and the workspace owners get the completed week by email every Monday: gains, drops, keywords that entered the top ten and keywords that fell out of it.

  • A “Wrong page” badge and filter when the target and the ranking URL disagree
  • An opt-in weekly email digest, Mondays, for the previous complete week
  • A keyword only counts as moved if it had impressions in both weeks
  • Moves under 0.1 of a position are treated as rounding noise, not news

How your keywords sit across top 3, 4–10, 11–20, 21–50 and 51+, a page-one gauge, the closest wins, and the biggest movers.

Keyword detail

Open any keyword for its position history with optional 7-day smoothing, its clicks and impressions, its ranking pages, and dated annotations so a jump has an explanation attached.

Insights

Four grouped opportunity lists derived from the stored rows: striking distance, low-CTR pages, cannibalisation and lost keywords.

Alerts

Rules for movement, entering a top-N threshold, a lost keyword, cannibalisation or a failed sync — delivered in-app or by email.

Getting keywords in

Three ways to start tracking.

  1. Paste them

One per line or comma-separated, up to 500 at a time, with a country, device, tags and an option to count close variants.

  2. Import a CSV

Map your own columns, preview the first rows, and see every invalid or duplicate row flagged before anything is saved. Up to 500 valid rows per import.

  3. Take the suggestions

MrKeyword lists the queries your site already appears for in Search Console, so you can add the ones that matter with one click.

How the numbers are made

A position here is a measurement, not a guess.

A position in MrKeyword is the average position your search engine reported for that keyword over the period you selected. A few consequences follow from that, and the product says all of them on screen.

Gaps, not zeros

Search Console has no position for a day nobody saw you, so the chart breaks rather than dropping to the floor. “Not available” is never shown as 0 or 100.

Change is like-for-like

Movement counts only keywords present in both periods, so a keyword added yesterday cannot manufacture a swing. It is rounded to one decimal, so noise is not reported as progress.

Three days to settle

Google finalises each day after roughly three days, so the most recent days can still move. The header always shows the date your data actually runs through.

Bing says less, so we show less

Bing query data may lack country, device or the ranking URL. Where Bing does not supply a dimension, MrKeyword leaves it blank instead of guessing.

History outlives the window

Search Console keeps roughly 16 months. MrKeyword stores its own daily copy from the moment you connect, so your record keeps growing past that.

Scope

What this does not do

Being clear about the edges is part of the product. These are deliberate limits, not gaps we are hoping you will miss.

  • It does not check live search results. Positions are provider averages for a period, not a live look at page one.
  • It does not track competitor rankings or share of voice — that stays switched off until MrKeyword has measured competitor data rather than predictions.
  • It does not track SERP features such as featured snippets or local packs.
  • It cannot report a position for a day that had no impressions, because no search engine measured one.
