Every idea Keyword Planner returned for your seed, with monthly searches, the top-of-page bid range, difficulty, intent and a 12-month trend line.
A keyword generator turns one seed keyword into a list of related searches. Type a seed and sign in free: MrKeyword returns up to 500 ideas from Google Keyword Planner, each with monthly searches, difficulty and intent, sorted into topic groups. Each search uses 1 of your 10 monthly lookups on the Free plan.
Free account, no credit card. You'll see the results right after you sign in.
Built on first-party data from Google and Bing
Type the broadest phrase that describes the topic, then let the tabs narrow it down.
One to three words describing the topic (“puppy training”, “roof repair”), and the market: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India or worldwide.
Create a free account or sign in. No credit card, and the Free plan never expires. The seed and market come with you, and the search runs as soon as you arrive.
Start in Groups to see the topics inside the list, open Easy wins for the long tail, then save the keywords you want to a list or track them on your site.
It returns the ideas Google Keyword Planner gives for your seed, each with monthly searches, difficulty and intent, split across seven tabs. Groups, On your site, Matching, Questions and Modifiers only appear when they have something to show.
Every idea Keyword Planner returned for your seed, with monthly searches, the top-of-page bid range, difficulty, intent and a 12-month trend line.
The ideas sorted into topic groups, each named after the word its keywords share (“price”, “near me”), with the group's total searches counting close variants once. It appears when a search returns at least 20 ideas that form two or more groups of 3+ keywords.
Ideas with up to 200 searches a month and a difficulty under 30: the long tail a small site can realistically win. It appears on every search with Keyword Planner figures, and says so when no idea qualifies.
Ideas your own website already gets Google impressions for, with its clicks and average position from your connected Search Console over the last 90 days. It appears when a site is connected and something matches.
Only the ideas that contain every word of your seed, for when the related wording in All drifts too far.
Ideas phrased as questions (how, what, why, can…), with the question headings that pages in MrKeyword's index use for the topic underneath. Those headings show what pages answer, not how often anyone searches them.
Ideas carrying a modifier such as best, vs, review, price, near, free, online or for: the commercial and comparison angles of the topic.
A generated list pairs each idea with its demand, difficulty and intent, so you can see at a glance which ones are worth a page. The rows below are an example with invented figures for the seed “puppy training”, not Keyword Planner data.
| Keyword idea | Group | Monthly searches | Difficulty | Intent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| puppy training near me | near me | 1,600 | 34 · Medium | Transactional |
| puppy training classes | classes | 880 | 41 · Medium | Informational |
| how to potty train a puppy | potty | 2,900 | 22 · Easy | Informational |
| puppy training schedule by age | schedule | 390 | 12 · Easy | Informational |
| best puppy training treats | treats | 260 | 27 · Easy | Commercial |
| online puppy training course | online | 170 | 38 · Medium | Informational |
How to read it: the question “how to potty train a puppy” has the most demand and an Easy score, so it is a natural first article. “Puppy training near me” and “puppy training classes” describe the same service and belong on one page, not two. Difficulty bands are the app's own: under 30 Easy, 30–49 Medium, 50–69 Hard, 70 and up Very hard.
The ideas and their volumes are fetched live from Google Keyword Planner, through the official Google Ads API, each time you search. Volumes are Google's rounded monthly averages for the market you picked, with a 12-month trend; where Google gives no number, the idea shows no volume rather than a guess. Our guide to finding keyword search volume explains why every tool's numbers differ, and whether Google Keyword Planner is free to use on your own.
Difficulty is MrKeyword's own score, from 0 to 100. For the ideas on screen it is measured from the sites MrKeyword's index finds targeting each phrase, and estimated from Keyword Planner's data where the index has too few; the keyword difficulty checker explains both. Intent is read from the wording of each phrase, and the reason is shown beside it.
Every tab is sorted from the same search, so opening a tab or a group uses no extra lookup.
A keyword generator is about breadth: it starts from one seed and gives you many ideas to choose from. A keyword research tool is about depth on the keyword you already have. In MrKeyword both are the same Keyword Research screen; this page is for the first job.
If you already know the phrase and want its volume, difficulty and intent in one place, start from the free keyword research tool. If you have a list and only need to know how hard each one is, the keyword difficulty checker covers that, and a bulk check takes up to 500 keywords at once.
Pick one group per page, start with the ideas your site can win, and check that the intent matches the page you plan to write. A long list is only useful once each keyword has a home.
Groups gather the variations that belong on one page, which is how you avoid two of your pages competing for the same search; our guide to keyword cannibalization shows what happens when they do. Easy wins lists the low-competition long tail, which is where a newer site usually gets its first clicks.
Save the keepers to a keyword list so the whole team works from one place (the master keyword list guide shows how), and track the ones you publish for: rank tracking then reads their real positions from your Search Console. For the whole method, see our roundup of the best keyword research tools, and how keyword research works in MrKeyword.
A keyword generator is only as useful as it is honest about its edges. These are ours.
Every search is a live Keyword Planner request, so there is no result on this page without signing in.
10 a month on the Free plan; searching the same seed again asks Google again and uses another. Switching tabs and groups does not.
Keyword Planner publishes rounded averages, and that is what you see.
Another site's keywords are predicted in Domain Overview, labelled Predicted, never presented as measured.
Type a seed above and your list is one sign-in away.
Generate keywords freeYes. It runs on a free MrKeyword account: no credit card, and the Free plan never expires. Each search is one of your 10 keyword lookups a month on Free, and a search that finds nothing is refunded. Starter raises the allowance to 200 lookups for $10 a month.
Up to 500 from one search: MrKeyword asks Google Keyword Planner for that many ideas around your seed and shows what comes back. A very specific phrase can return none; then MrKeyword tries a shorter form of it and keeps the low-volume, easy ideas, and says so on the page.
From the official Google Ads Keyword Planner API, asked live when you search. Volumes are Google's rounded monthly averages, shown with their source and the time they were fetched. Ideas MrKeyword adds on its own, when Keyword Planner has nothing, are labelled with no volume rather than given one.
Every search is a live Keyword Planner request that uses one of your workspace's lookups, so it runs inside a free workspace. Your seed keyword and market are carried through sign-in, so the list is waiting when you arrive.
Yes. The form here offers the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India or worldwide, and Keyword Research in the app covers 15 countries plus worldwide.
No. It generates ideas from a keyword you type. For another site's keywords, Domain Overview in the app predicts them from MrKeyword's own page index and labels every one Predicted, because no search engine reports another site's rankings.
