Ubersuggest vs Semrush: prices, features and which to pick

Ubersuggest is the low-cost suite from Neil Patel's company; Semrush is the wider suite built around competitor and keyword data. This page compares their prices, read on each vendor's own pricing page (checked November 2026), and what each does better for keyword research, site audits, backlinks, rank tracking and AI search visibility. We make MrKeyword, a smaller tool, so read our section with that in mind.

An SEO dashboard comparing metrics across several charts
The short version
  • Ubersuggest is the budget suite; Semrush is the deeper one. Ubersuggest puts keyword ideas, an audit, backlinks and weekly rank tracking in one cheap plan; Semrush is built around competitor and keyword data, with daily tracking and add-on toolkits.
  • Prices (November 2026, monthly billing): Ubersuggest lists US$29 to US$99 a month across its three plans and also sells one-time lifetime plans; Semrush runs from $139 (SEO) to $299 (Pro+), with Advanced on a custom price.
  • Rank tracking: Ubersuggest updates rankings weekly with 125 to 300 per project tracked keywords; Semrush tracks 500 keywords daily on SEO and 1,500 on Pro+, with daily updates on every paid plan.
  • Free use: Ubersuggest has a free account for light research and a 7-day free trial on monthly plans; Semrush has a free plan with 1 demo project and 10 reports a day, no card and a 7-day free trial of its paid plans.
  • For your own site on a budget, Google Search Console is free, and MrKeyword (our product) builds on it from free, then $10 a month. It does not research competitors' rankings like either suite.

Disclosure: MrKeyword publishes this page, and MrKeyword overlaps with both tools for work on your own site. Every price below comes from the vendor's own pricing page, and the date we read it is printed next to it. Where a page did not state something, we say so rather than guess.

Quick verdict

  • Pick Ubersuggest if you are a beginner or solo site owner on a small budget: US$29 to US$99 a month buys keyword ideas, competitor research, a site audit and weekly rank tracking in one simple suite.
  • Pick Semrush if you need the widest research suite: daily rank tracking, competitor and keyword data, backlinks, site audits, and specialist toolkits for local, content, market and AI visibility research.
  • Ubersuggest starts lower. Its range begins at US$29, while Semrush's SEO plan costs $139 a month and its Starter plan $199.
  • Only Semrush has a free plan you can keep. Free plan: 1 demo project and 10 reports a day, no card. Ubersuggest offers a free account for light research and a 7-day free trial on monthly plans.
  • If you only work on your own site, Search Console's measured data is free, and you may not need either suite.

Ubersuggest vs Semrush pricing

Ubersuggest's plans sit in a US$29 to US$99 a month range; Semrush runs from $139 to $299 a month, with Advanced on a custom price. Ubersuggest shows each plan's price in the visitor's local currency, so we quote only the US-dollar range its page prints, and not its yearly or lifetime amounts (yearly and one-time lifetime plans offered, priced in local currency). Semrush says yearly billing saves up to 17% but does not show per-month yearly prices on its pricing page for every plan; the per-month yearly figures below come from Semrush's own pages where stated. Our Semrush pricing guide covers its add-ons, extra users and credits.

Seats change the sum for teams. Ubersuggest's pricing page does not state a user count. Semrush's SEO, Starter and Pro+ plans list 1 user each, and extra users cost from $45/mo on SEO, $45/mo on Starter, $80/mo on Pro+ and $100/mo on Advanced.

Keyword research

Both research keywords for any domain from their own databases; Ubersuggest is simpler and cheaper, while Semrush gives more control and deeper competitor data on its higher plans.

  • Ubersuggest: keyword ideas, search volume, difficulty and competitor keywords are in every paid plan, and the free account covers light research. Its figures are its own estimates.
  • Semrush: keyword research and competitor analysis come inside the SEO plan and above, with 500 keywords tracked daily on SEO and 1,500 on Pro+. Starter adds AI visibility tracking and MCP access to the same SEO limits. Specialist toolkits for content and market research are sold on top.

Neither vendor publishes its keyword database size counted the same way, so we do not rank their databases.

Site audit

Both include a crawler-based site audit on paid plans, and both raise the audit allowance on higher plans. Their pricing pages count audit limits in different ways, and our dataset does not hold those caps, so we do not quote them here. Ubersuggest's audit gives a health score with errors, warnings and recommendations, and page limits grow by plan. Semrush's Site Audit is part of every paid plan, with larger crawl allowances on higher plans and an AI-ready audit on Starter. For a single page, our free site audit runs with no sign-up.

Both sell backlink research on any domain from their own web-wide link index. Each counts its index differently, so we do not compare their sizes. If links are the main job, compare both on a domain you know well during the trial: Ubersuggest's 7-day free trial on monthly plans, or Semrush's 7-day free trial. Semrush's backlink tools come inside its paid plans, and Ubersuggest's backlink reports are part of the same suite and count toward each plan's daily report limit.

Rank tracking

Ubersuggest updates rankings weekly; Semrush tracks daily on every paid plan. Ubersuggest allows 125 to 300 per project tracked keywords across 1 to 15 projects across the three plans, updated weekly. Semrush tracks 500 keywords daily on the SEO plan, 1,500 on Pro+ and 5,000+ on Advanced. Semrush's Position Tracking keeps daily results for 60 days, then weekly snapshots for 140 weeks, per its help center.

For trackers built only for this job, see best rank tracking software.

Semrush is the stronger pick for AI search visibility tracking; Ubersuggest does not list a dedicated AI visibility feature. Semrush's Starter plan tracks 50 a day across Google Search, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, with 1 domain for AI brand performance and 300 AI visibility reports a day, plus MCP access so AI assistants can query Semrush data. Pro+ raises this to 100 a day a day and Advanced to unlimited. Ubersuggest's pricing page does not list AI visibility tracking or prompt monitoring as a feature.

Who should pick Ubersuggest, and who should pick Semrush?

Pick Ubersuggest if you are a beginner on a small budget who wants one cheap suite; pick Semrush if you need the widest research suite and its add-on toolkits.

Where MrKeyword fits

MrKeyword, which we make, is a cheaper tool for the weekly work on sites you own, not a replacement for Ubersuggest or Semrush. It reads your Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools data, keeps a daily history, crawls your site and gets keyword volumes from Google Keyword Planner through the official Google Ads API. Try the free keyword research tool or the domain authority checker with no sign-up.

From our pricing page. We make MrKeyword. Its positions are Google's own average positions from your Search Console, so they cover sites you verify, not competitors' sites.

What it gives up, honestly: its link index is smaller than either suite's, and it has no third-party traffic data. The website traffic checker shows MrKeyword's own modelled estimate as a range, not measured traffic.

  • No web-scale keyword index. It cannot list every keyword a competitor ranks for. Its search volumes come from Google Keyword Planner through the official Google Ads API, for the keywords you research.
  • Competitor positions are predicted, not measured. The Competitors tab in rank tracking estimates where rival domains rank from MrKeyword's own index and labels every figure Predicted.
  • No live SERP checks. It never scrapes Google. Your positions are Google's own average positions from Search Console (and Bing Webmaster Tools), for sites you verify, with Google's usual 2 to 3 day delay.
  • A smaller link index. Backlinks and Link Authority come from MrKeyword's web graph, which is smaller than the link indexes the big suites run.
  • No local pack, map or ads tracking, and no social media or PPC toolkits.

Questions and answers

Ubersuggest vs Semrush questions

Is Ubersuggest as good as Semrush?

Ubersuggest is cheaper and simpler, so it suits beginners and solo site owners. Semrush is the wider suite, with daily rank tracking, deeper competitor research and add-on toolkits, so it suits teams that need more than basic SEO. Neither is exact for sites you do not own; both estimate search volume, traffic and difficulty from their own databases.

Is Ubersuggest free?

Partly. Ubersuggest offers a free account for light research and a 7-day free trial on monthly plans. Its pricing page did not state the free account's daily search allowance when we checked in November 2026. Paid plans were shown in a US$29 to US$99 a month range.

Does Semrush have a free plan?

Yes. Free plan: 1 demo project and 10 reports a day, no card, and a 7-day free trial of its paid plans.

Which is better for beginners, Ubersuggest or Semrush?

Ubersuggest, for most beginners: it is simpler, costs US$29 to US$99 a month and puts keyword ideas, an audit and rank tracking in one place. Semrush suits people who need deep competitor research, and its SEO plan costs $139 a month.

Is the Ubersuggest lifetime deal worth it?

Only if you will use Ubersuggest for years. It is a one-time payment shown in your local currency, and lifetime purchases are final and non-refundable, so try the 7-day free trial on a monthly plan first. Rankings still update weekly on every plan.
