Semrush pricing in 2026: what each plan costs, what it limits, and what you pay on top

Semrush pricing starts at $139 a month for the SEO plan (5 websites, 500 keywords tracked daily), then $199 for Starter and $299 for Pro+, with Advanced priced on request. Paying yearly saves up to 17%. Each extra user costs $45 to $100 a month, and specialist toolkits cost extra. Prices as of November 2026, from Semrush's own pricing page.

An SEO dashboard with several charts, illustrating a comparison of SEO tool plans
The short version
  • Semrush's SEO + AI Search plans as of November 2026: SEO $139 a month, Starter $199, Pro+ $299, Advanced on request. Billed yearly they work out at $117.33, $165.17 and $248.17 a month.
  • The limits that matter are websites (5, 5, 15, 40+) and keywords tracked daily (500, 500, 1,500, 5,000+). Starter adds AI visibility tracking and MCP access to the SEO plan's limits rather than raising them.
  • Every plan includes one user. Semrush's help center lists extra users at $45 a month on Starter, $80 on Pro+ and $100 on Advanced, and Local, Content, Traffic & Market and AI Visibility are separate toolkits with their own prices.
  • Refunds are narrow. Semrush's refund policy gives a 7-day money-back guarantee on first annual purchases only; month-to-month plans are excluded. The 7-day free trial is the safer way to test.
  • For one website, cheaper routes exist: Google Search Console is free, and MrKeyword (our product) is free for 25 tracked keywords, then $10 a month. Neither replaces Semrush's competitor research.

Disclosure: MrKeyword publishes this page and appears in it as one of the cheaper options. Every Semrush price and limit below links to the Semrush page we read it on, on 31 October 2026. Semrush changes its plans often and has renamed several of them, so check semrush.com/prices before you buy. Where Semrush did not publish a figure, we say so instead of guessing.

How much does Semrush cost?

As of November 2026, Semrush costs $139 a month for its SEO plan, $199 for Starter and $299 for Pro+, billed monthly, while Advanced has no listed price and is sold through a demo. These are the four paid plans on its SEO + AI Search pricing page, which is the page most people mean by “Semrush pricing”. Everything else Semrush sells, from local listings to market research, is a separate toolkit you add on top.

The plan names have changed. Older reviews talk about Pro, Guru and Business; the pricing page now lists SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced. Semrush's own knowledge base still uses the old names in places, so you will meet both. The tracked-keyword and website counts line up (Pro and SEO both allow 5 websites and 500 keywords, Guru and Pro+ 15 and 1,500, Business and Advanced 40 and 5,000), which helps when you read older limit tables.

What does each Semrush plan limit?

Each Semrush plan is mainly limited by how many websites you can set up as projects and how many keywords you can track daily, with further caps on results per report, reports per day and pages crawled. The pricing page publishes the first two for every plan; the rest sit in Semrush's knowledge base.

SEO, $139 a month

Semrush aims the SEO plan at freelancers and small businesses. It covers 5 websites and 500 keywords tracked daily, with what the pricing page calls “basic keyword research and competitor analysis”, Position Tracking, Site Audit, and some AI search monitoring. For one person working on a handful of sites, it is the cheapest paid way into Semrush.

Starter, $199 a month

Starter is the first “SEO + AI Search” bundle, and the name misleads: it costs more than the SEO plan, not less. It keeps the same 5 websites and 500 tracked keywords, words its research items as full “keyword research and optimization tools” and “competitors insights tools”, and adds AI visibility tracking across Google Search, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini: 50 prompts tracked daily, 1 domain for AI brand performance, 300 AI visibility reports a day and an AI-ready Site Audit. It also lists MCP access, so AI assistants can query Semrush data. Pay the extra $60 a month only if you will use the AI side.

Pro+, $299 a month

Pro+ triples the capacity to 15 websites and 1,500 keywords tracked daily, raises AI prompts to 100 a day, and adds historical SEO data and tracking by multiple locations and devices. Semrush does not give the depth of the historical data on the pricing page. This is the plan for small agencies and in-house teams running several sites.

Advanced, custom price

Advanced starts at 40 websites and 5,000 keywords tracked daily, with unlimited AI prompts, team users, API data integration, reporting and SEO share of voice. Its price is set after a demo. Beyond it, Semrush for Enterprise is a separate, custom-priced product.

Results per report and reports per day

The current pricing page does not list results per report. Semrush's SEO Toolkit limits article, still written for the older Pro, Guru and Business tiers, gives 10,000, 30,000 and 50,000 results per report and 100,000, 300,000 and 1,000,000 pages to crawl a month. Its Keyword Magic Tool article lists 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 reports a day on those tiers. Treat these as a guide to the SEO, Pro+ and Advanced plans and confirm them in a trial, since Semrush has not republished them under the new names.

Position Tracking history is worth knowing too. Semrush's Position Tracking help says it keeps daily results for 60 days, then weekly snapshots for 140 weeks.

What do extra users and add-ons cost?

Every Semrush plan includes one user seat, and extra users cost $45 a month on Starter, $80 on Pro+ and $100 on Advanced, according to Semrush's help center. Its user management page also says a subscription lets one email address be logged in at a time by default, so a shared login works for only one person at a time.

Seats change the real price quickly. A two-person team on Pro+ billed monthly pays $299 plus $80, or $379 a month, before any toolkit. A three-person team on the SEO plan pays at least $139 plus two seats from $45, so $229 a month or more.

The SEO + AI Search plans cover search work. Semrush sells other jobs as specialist toolkits that you add on top; its subscriptions guide says you can add or remove them at any time. The prices below were shown with annual billing:

  • Local: Base at $30 and Pro at $60 a month per location, for listings and map rank tracking (Local pricing).
  • Content: Base at $60 a month (Content pricing).
  • Traffic & Market: Pro at $289 a month, for competitor traffic and market research (Traffic & Market pricing).
  • AI Visibility on its own: Base at $99 a month per domain, with 25 prompts (AI Visibility pricing).
  • Smaller add-ons on the main pricing page: Lead Generation at $90 a month, and extra My Reports at $10 (Base) or $20 (Pro) a month each.

Extra users on other toolkits are priced differently. Semrush's help center lists $20 per extra user on Social, Local, Ads, Content and AI PR plans that do not include the SEO Toolkit, but excludes Traffic & Market and AI Visibility from that rate: giving a user access to those costs $289 and $99 per user respectively. The point is not that any of these prices is unfair; it is that the $139 headline is the floor, and a team that wants local, content and market data can spend several times that.

How much do you save by paying Semrush yearly?

Paying yearly saves up to 17%, which on the SEO plan means $117.33 a month instead of $139, paid as one charge for the year. Semrush's subscriptions guide says annual plans are paid upfront for the full year.

By our arithmetic on Semrush's published figures, the year costs $1,407.96 on the SEO plan instead of $1,668 month by month, a saving of about 16%. Starter comes to $1,982.04 instead of $2,388, and Pro+ to $2,978.04 instead of $3,588, both about 17%. The “up to” covers that small difference between plans.

The annual discount has a second effect: refunds. Semrush's Cancellation and Refund Policy (last updated 20 August 2025) offers a one-time, 7-day money-back guarantee only on initial subscriptions of twelve months or more, and on initial add-ons, bought directly from semrush.com with a card. It says refunds are not available for month-to-month subscriptions, and that you must ask for the refund in writing rather than just cancel. So the safer order is: trial first, then commit to a year only once you know the plan fits.

What does Semrush's free plan include?

Semrush's Free plan costs nothing, needs no credit card, and includes 1 demo project and 10 reports a day across its main tools, plus some AI Visibility features. That is enough to look up a few keywords or domains a day, not to run a site's SEO on. Our guide is Semrush free? covers the Free plan's limits and the 7-day trial terms in detail.

The help pages fill in some limits for accounts without the SEO Toolkit: the Keyword Magic Tool shows 10 results per report in the interface and none in export, and Position Tracking covers 10 keywords for 1 website. Separately, most paid toolkits come with a 7-day free trial; Semrush's subscriptions guide says you can cancel during it at no charge, but exports are disabled while you are on the trial.

Which Semrush plan should you pay for?

Pay for the SEO plan if you work alone on up to 5 sites, Starter only if you need AI visibility tracking or MCP access as well, Pro+ if you manage more than 5 sites or need history and multi-location tracking, and Advanced only when you outgrow 15 sites or need the API. Most people overbuy rather than underbuy, so start from the limit you will actually hit.

If you are…Plan that fitsWhy
A freelancer or owner researching competitors for a few sitesSEO5 websites and 500 tracked keywords cover most solo work
A small team reporting on visibility in ChatGPT and AI Overviews tooStarterSame SEO limits plus 50 AI prompts a day and MCP access

Two tests save money. First, count the websites you need as projects this quarter, not someday; that number decides between SEO and Pro+. Second, list the reports you opened last month. If they are your own rankings, clicks and audits, you may not need a suite at all, which is the next question.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Semrush for one website?

Yes: for a single website you own, Google Search Console is free, and tools built on it cost far less than Semrush, though none of them replaces Semrush's research into domains you do not own. Semrush's price buys a web-wide database: competitor keywords, traffic estimates, backlinks and advertising data for any site. If you mostly look at your own site, you are paying for data you rarely open.

Google Search Console

Search Console is a free service from Google. Its Performance report shows every query your site appeared for, with clicks, impressions and average position, measured by Google rather than estimated. It cannot show competitors, but for “how is my site doing in Google?” it is the source every tool, Semrush included, is trying to approximate.

MrKeyword

MrKeyword, which we make, is built on that first-party data. It reads your Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools data for sites you verify, keeps a daily history, and adds keyword research with monthly volumes from the official Google Keyword Planner API. The Free plan covers 1 website, 25 tracked keywords and 100 audit pages a month, with no card and no end date. Starter is $10 a month ($100 a year) for 1 website and 500 tracked keywords; Growth is $19 for 3 websites and Agency $49 for 10. You can try the parts free: the keyword research tool, the site audit and the backlink checker. Our Semrush alternative page sets out what you give up by leaving a full suite, and what MrKeyword is lists where each figure comes from.

Ahrefs and SE Ranking

If you need competitor research but not at Semrush's price, Ahrefs lists a Starter plan at $29 a month on its pricing page, alongside Lite at $129; we do not quote Starter's limits because the page did not show them. SE Ranking's Core plan is $129 a month with 10 projects and 2,000 keywords tracked daily, and 20% off yearly. Both run their own web-wide databases, as Semrush does. Our affordable SEO tools comparison covers more plans under $50, the Ahrefs alternative page covers Ahrefs, and best rank tracking software compares Semrush's Position Tracking with seven other trackers.

Is Semrush worth the price?

Semrush is worth its price if you use its competitor and market data every week; it is poor value if you mainly track your own site's rankings and run audits. Its strength is breadth: keyword research, competitor domains, backlinks, Position Tracking, Site Audit, AI visibility and advertising research in one login, all on the same database. For an agency pitching clients or a team planning content around competitors, that saves real hours.

The cost argument turns the other way when a suite is mostly used to check your own numbers. Rankings, clicks and impressions for your site come free from Search Console, and keyword volumes come from Google's own Keyword Planner, which our guide to using Keyword Planner free explains. Many teams combine the two: a suite for the competitive research they genuinely need, and first-party data for the weekly view of their own sites. Comparing other suites? Our Moz alternatives page does the same exercise for Moz Pro.

What MrKeyword does not do

MrKeyword is not a replacement for Semrush if your work depends on data about sites you do not own.

  • It does not research competitors' keywords, traffic or advertising the way Semrush's database does.
  • It does not check live search results or track competitors' rankings; positions come from Search Console and Bing for sites you verify, and it never scrapes Google.
  • Its backlink index is its own and smaller than Semrush's, and its Link Authority score will not match Semrush's Authority Score.
  • It has no local listings, social media or PPC toolkits.
  • It cannot import your Semrush history; you connect Search Console and it starts its own daily record.
